Obituary

BETTY JEAN RICHARDSON

March 29, 1927 ~ February 7, 2018

Betty Jean Richardson, 90, passed away peacefully in her sleep Feb. 7, 2018 at her home in Vancouver, WA. She was born in Butte, NE on March 29, 1927 to parents Fred and Minnie Bouslaugh, growing up on the family farm there. The family later moved to Yakima, where she met her husband John, and they were married in 1949. Moves took the growing family to Colorado, California, Portland and Seattle area, where her 6 children were raised. Betty was a homemaker, and keeping up with the activities and antics of her 6 kids kept her very busy.

She loved to collect things_from Betty Boop memorabilia, to 'sewing thimble' souvenirs from her travels, as well as those of her children and grandchildren_we all knew to bring her back a thimble from our trips! She enjoyed her John Wayne westerns, reading the paper from front to back, and she enjoyed her flower and plant garden her daughter Jeanie planted on her deck outside her patio door. Most recently, she loved doting on and spoiling her latest great-grandson, Talon Choquette...as she did with all the young children that came into the family. Her family was her entire life, and she loved staying in touch with them and their visits very much.

Betty is survived by her daughters, Jeanie (Dave) Choquette and Johnna Jessup; sons, Butch (Diana) Richardson and Buddy Richardson; as well as her 12 grandchildren, Garrett (Jayann) Bergman, Johnna (Marina) Bergman, Travis (Harmony) Choquette, Jessica Lockwood, Stina (Dennis) Farrow, Teresa McLynne, Ron (Jessie) McLynne, Josh, Amber and Tiffany (Robert) Richardson, Mike Register,Jr. and Bailey Richardson; and her 16 great-grandchildren, Christopher, Randall and Colby Bergman, Mahkyia Bergman-Brink, Talon Choquette, Nick and Sidney Rae Haener, Brianna, Travis and Jack McLynne, Justine Richardson, Savannah and Scarlette Richardson; Jacob, Andrew and Rebekah McLynne.

She was preceded in death by her daughters, Tammy Swanberg and Diana McLynne; her husband, John; her parents; brother, Fritz; and her spoiled little Yorkie, Spike.

Betty very much wanted to be at home when her time came, and the family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks and appreciation for the loving care her daughter Jeanie provided Betty over the last 8 years, and especially, as her health declined, the difficult last couple of years. She provided Betty with the care so she could be at home.

Memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of SW Washington, or Hospice, which is an amazing group of people.
