Surrounded by his family, Myles Lubinski passed away peacefully on January 2, 2017. Born in Eau Claire, Wisconsin in 1934 to Dan Lubinski and Helen Fay (Wells). In 1942 they moved to Fruit Valley near Vancouver, Washington. Myles graduated from Vancouver High School in 1951. As a boy he loved animals, fishing, hunting and camping in WA state. After High School Myles enlisted in the US Navy serving on the USS Toledo including military action in the Korean War. He was stationed in Alaska for 18 months. After serving his country Myles left the Navy with an Honorable Discharge. He came back to Vancouver, Washington and found work at Alcoa Aluminum. There Myles met Betty May Kreier and they were married in 1960 raising a family of 2 boys and 2 girls. Myles and Betty loved the beach, dancing with the Stump Town Cloggers, listening to classical and bluegrass music, theater and opera. This love for music and the arts is carried on through their children. Myles had a real interest in firearms which grew into a life long sport of competitive shooting. He passed his love for these sports onto his children and grandchildren. He also loved watching football, running and working out at Lake Shore gym. Myles worked as a draftsman and tool designer for Hyster and Boeing. After receiving a degree in engineering from Clark College he went to work for the Washington State Highway Department in the Advanced Traffic Planning Division and retired after 30 years. Myles was preceded by his parents; his wife of 57 years, Betty; his first great-grandson, Daniel; and his younger brother, Al. He is survived by his children, David, Dixie, Daniel, and Diana; his sister, Lynn Lubinski; 9 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren; and the family dog, "Bear". There will be a memorial service for Myles at 2:00p.m. on January 21, 2017 at East Park Church, 15815 NE 18th St., Vancouver, Washington 98684.
