Vida met Jim Lear during WWII, married him after the war, and they had 6 children.

She said, "My family is my purpose for living."

An active, faithful LDS member, she enjoyed genealogy and worked closely with the LDS Family History Center.

She worked for Head Start 23 1/2 years, fully retiring in 1993. Vida taught First Aid/CPR for the American Red Cross for 15 years.

She loved the beauties of nature and published poetry and prose. Vida was instrumental in forming a family organization with reunions and wrote a family history for the Odgen and Rogers Families. The latter was sent to the FHC in SLC, UT.
