March 30, 1922 - March 25, 2019
Born in St. Louis, Missouri
Resided in Vancouver, Washington

Anna Gloria Fleming Coppedge returned to her loving Heavenly Father on March 25th, 2019. She was on the brink of turning 97 but decided that she would rather celebrate it with her family on the other side.

Gloria was born to Edward William Fleming and Flora Gertrude Thomas on March 30th 1922 in St. Louis Missouri. She was the only girl in the family, so she learned how to quickly keep up with her brothers. Gloria kept all those around her on their toes throughout her life. At the age of 4 she was diagnosed with Tuberculosis and rickets and was sent to an open-air school in Houston, TX. A few years later, at the age of 8, she was sent to live with her Uncle John and Aunt Mary, because of the Great Depression.

In 1943, she joined the Navy as a WAVE. While she was there, she was determined not to marry. Her determination wavered as she met a very handsome Navy Corpsman on the base. His name was G. Allyn Coppedge and he became the love of her life. They married Dec. 21, 1945 and had many wonderful years together. During their life they welcomed two daughters, Gail and Gay.

During her married life she discovered two passions that she kept until she passed away. She developed her first passion when she and Allyn investigated the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Gloria and Allyn joined the church in 1951 and she was determined to live the gospel everyday just not on Sundays. She took the principles she was taught and applied them throughout her life. Also, she had a passion for the Scouting Program and leading the 11-year-old boys. Gloria and Allyn took the program to the next level with compass hikes, learning to tie knots, first-aid and how to be prepared for most situations. They passed the love of scouting on to their children and grandchildren. Her life was one of passion, love, and learning. She was determined to succeed in everything she chose to do.

Gloria is preceded in death by her loving husband, G. Allyn Coppedge and by her parents and siblings. She leaves her two daughters, Gail Hyde and Gay Fisher, as well as 13 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren. She will be missed by family and many friends.
