Harold Bauder, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away on January 19, 2019 at age 84. He was born in Bethune, Colorado on December 15, 1934 and grew up in Rocky Ford, Colorado with his brother Marvin and sisters Nina and Geneva.

He served in the Army from 1955 to 1957. After the Army, Harold attended college at Concordia Portland where he graduated. Answering his calling to the ministry, he attended Concordia Seminary in Springfield, MO, and was ordained as a Lutheran Minister in 1963.

He married Mary Alice LeMaster on June 17, 1961. Following his ordination, he began missionary work in the Philippines, serving remote villages and raising his young family. After returning to the United States, Harold served as Pastor for four congregations during his pastoral career - Hope Lutheran in Springfield, OR; Zion Lutheran in Tacoma, WA; Redeemer Lutheran in Kimberly, Idaho and St. John Lutheran in Seaview, WA.

After retiring from over 44 years of full-time ministry, Harold moved to Vancouver, Washington where he continued serving and ministering to those in need. Harold and Mary Alice enjoyed working together to witness, minister and care for the many people that they came to know over the years.

He will be missed by Mary Alice, his wife of 57 years; children, Susan Veis (Kirk: Annika, Sophia and Peter) of Olympia; John Bauder (Diane: Wyatt and Alegra) of Tacoma; Sophia Yorke (Bryan: Olivia, Spencer, Katie, Seth and Abigail) of Sherwood; and Sigrid Rule (Steve: Brad and Chloe) of Portland; his brother Marvin and sisters Nina and Geneva; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

His family is grateful for the love and care he received at Hopewell Hospice House in Portland. The Service will be at 4:00pm on Saturday February 2nd at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Vancouver Washington. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Good Shephard Lutheran Church (www.vanflock.org) to support upcoming mission trips to Guatemala through Child Beyond International or to www.missioncentral.us for mission work in the Philippines.
