Janice Eileen (Ensrud) Pomerenk, resident of Vancouver, WA, passed away from heart disease. Janice was born in Pekin, ND. She grew up in Chehalis, WA, where she met the love of her life at age 19, and relocated to Vancouver, WA.

Jan was one of four children, born to the late Conrad and Cora Ensrud and was the beloved wife of James Pomerenk for nearly 60 years. Jan will be remembered by her brothers, Jay and Roger and sister, Gwen Bell, her children, Daniel (Stacia), Timothy, Carolyn Carlsen (Craig), Joseph (Diane), Judith Ruiz, and Rebecca. She will be also be remembered fondly by her grandchildren, Jesse, Katie (Nick Adlard), Dane Carlsen, Max Carlsen, Elidia Ruiz, Carlos Ruiz, and Analucia Ruiz. She was excited about the upcoming birth of Katie’s son, Jan’s first great-grandchild, due in August.

She was preceded in death by Joseph’s son, Erik.

Jan worked for a time for Vancouver School District, but her main job was raising her many children and grandchildren.

Jan enjoyed reading, crafting, gardening musicals, watching baseball and garage sale shopping. She was known for her sugar cookies, raspberry jam, pies, and baked beans. She loved attending the many concerts and sporting events of her grandchildren. She was faithfully active at Memorial Lutheran Church in Vancouver for 60 years. She served as wedding coordinator, Sunday School teacher, and Bible Study instructor.

The family is planning a Celebration of Life for Jan at a later date.
