Katherine Rebecca Bentley, 80, of Vancouver, passed away on September 27th in her home after an arduous battle with dementia. She was always a ‘fighter’ as much as she was compassionate and giving to those closest to her.

Katherine was born on February 4, 1940 in Winnebago, Minnesota, but grew up and graduated high school in Billings, Montana. It was also there that she met and married her husband Jack in 1962 and the two built a life in Service within the U.S. Navy, raising their two daughters, Bonnie Jean Bentley-Conner and Rebecca Rae Bentley with love, laughter and a hearty dose of grit. Settling into their first home in Vancouver, Washington (1976), Katherine enjoyed supporting each of her daughters' many endeavors, Girl Scouting, playing Bridge with many friends and rooting for Pro-Football games with her husband. After Jack passed in 1989, Katherine remained in their family home and continued to fill it with loved ones.

Besides being an involved parent, Katherine was a dedicated career woman at The Columbian Newspaper (1977-1988) in Advertising, and then at Vancouver’s local Cable companies where she worked as a technical dispatcher. After retiring, Katherine enjoyed camping, Bingo and casino gaming with her partner of 25 years, Edwin Monks. Opening her home to others was always her way, and she continued to provide shelter and comfort to friends throughout her later years.

Katherine was predeceased by her husband, Jack R. Bentley, her sister, Jean Ann Henrickson (Billings, Montana), and her brother Robert Gilmore.

Katherine is survived by her daughters Bonnie Jean Bentley and Rebecca Rae Bentley, and her grandson Roger Bentley Tiffany. Also, nephews Hal and Jason Henrickson and their families (Montana), nieces Michelle, Stacey and Lynn (nee: Gilmore) with their families, and nephews Brian and Chris Gilmore with their families. Closest to Katherine was her dearest friend Bonnie Phillips and loving partner Ed Monks. She will also be remembered by Ed's adult children, Ryan and Christy Monks, Chelsea (Monks) and Jerry Saybo and their families. Katherine lovingly helped many people in her lifetime with a big heart and her own brand of wide-open authenticity, and she will be dearly missed.

At this time, no formal service will be arranged. Katherine was so passionate about each of us supporting causes closest to our hearts, please consider making a donation on her behalf to YOUR chosen cause, in lieu of flowers or gifts.
