Obituary

Michael Watkins, of Vancouver, WA, at the age of 78 passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 19, 2019. Michael was born on October 14, 1940, in Seattle to Dave and Doris Watkins.

He graduated from Lincoln High School in Seattle. While attending Everett Community College, he met Sharron Greaby. They married in Seattle on June 8, 1968, and moved to Washington State University. After graduation he worked for the U.S. Forest Service for 41 years.

He enjoyed building Radio Control Airplanes, wood working, and building heritage wooden toys for his grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing and camping with them.

He took seriously a Christ centered life to leave as a legacy to his grandchildren. His love for the Lord Jesus Christ was evident in how he lived.

Mike is survived by his wife Sharron of Vancouver, two children, daughter Leanna (James) Vaughan of Washougal, WA; son, Allen (Stacey) of Vancouver, WA; six grandchildren, Cole Vaughan, Riley Vaughan, Kari Vaughan, Drew Watkins, Zachary Watkins, and Gabrielle Watkins; sisters, Sharon (Bill) Bissonnette, Laura (Craig) Dick, Karen (Chuck) Albertson, Holly (Dallas) Dudschus, and brothers Evan (Linda) Watkins and Mark Watkins.

A Memorial Service will be held at East Park Alliance Church, February 9th, at 1:00pm, 15815 NE 18th Street, Vancouver, WA. Donations can be made to Friends of the Carpenter in Vancouver through the Evergreen Staples Funeral Home, 3414 NE 52nd Street, Suite 101, Vancouver, WA 98661. A private military service will be held at a later date.
